We're starting a project based on creating a new environment that fits into The Fifth Element. Before deciding what exactly I want to do, I needed to do some research on the movie and figure out how things are designed! The art direction for this movie is pretty unique, and although most of the designs seem pretty hokey, they have a charm to them!

I learned about using gradient maps in conjunction with an overlay layer to colorize a piece and I think it's totally rad!!
Here's a quick colorization of the above piece! Obviously hand tweaking needs to be done but in general, it's not bad for something done in 2 minutes.

|This is the current long-board I made a while back! Everyone really seems to dig it!|

I saw a video tutorial by Jonas De Ro on how to paint mountains!
Now, I'm not normally one to advocate "Technique Painting" but it's an amazing time saver, and hopefully I was thinking in terms of light and form enough for it to come off half way decent... I think I totally need to work on my shape language on this one, but this was a SUPER FUN to do and I really enjoyed painting it!

A quick still life of some Zinc White sitting on the table in-front of me... gotta practice those basics! Zinc white isn't super opaque, so it's perfect for glazing! If you want a solid white, you're better off using Gesso!

I was at a Burlesque show for New Years Eve! It was an amazing experience and I totally encourage people to go out and support their local live entertainment! Oh- and the lady's are sexy and amazingly fun to draw. These were based off photo's, but I'm totally bringing a sketch book and sitting in the balcony next time to get a little live action!!
